Foot Orthotics

Back Clinic Foot orthotics These are shoe inserts that are custom-made to medical specifications. Custom-made orthotics are considered more effective and made of higher quality than pre-made orthotics.

Custom-made orthotics can:

  • Correct abnormal walk or gait
  • Reduce pain
  • Prevent and protect foot/feet deformity
  • Better alignment
  • Take away pressure on the foot/feet
  • Improve mechanics of the foot

Foot pain can come from an injury, disease, or condition, but the cause of the foot pain is what the doctor wants to know to know what type of orthotic to design. The inserts are made by taking an impression of the foot/feet with a 3-D scan.

Suffering from foot pain, that can lead to leg, hip, and spine problems, then orthotics could hold the key to optimal health. By starting from the bottom up foot orthotics can prevent any problems/issues and relieve any pain. It is an option to be considered and should be discussed with your physician.

6 Spine Disorders That Chiropractic Helps

6 Spine Disorders That Chiropractic Helps

Chiropractic can help with a wide variety of health conditions, particularly those involving the spine. Your chiropractors ability to adjust your spine makes it possible to correct many issues with the back and neck. Chiropractic also offers the advantage of being drug-free and non-invasive, so the side effects you need to worry about are minimal.

6 Spine Disorders that Chiropractic Helps

1. Degenerative Disc Disease

Most often, degenerative disc disease is a condition that strikes people as they get older. The discs that sit between your vertebrae are supposed to be relatively soft to provide cushion and flexibility to the spine. Unfortunately, years of use and various injuries can cause the discs to wear down. When they wear down it can lead to pressure on nerves and bone on bone contact.

2. Herniated Disc

Sometimes a disc can rupture, allowing the interior matter to protrude from the outer shell and press against nerves in the spine. The most common areas of the body to have a herniated disc are the lower back and the neck.

3. Sciatica

The sciatic nerve travels from the lower back and down the legs. The nerve can become irritated if there are issues with the lower back, such as degenerative disc disease, herniated disc or misalignment. Pressure on the nerve can cause symptoms like shooting pains, numbness, tingling, dull aching, and other discomforts.

4. Whiplash

Whiplash is most common in rear-end car accidents, where a car hits you from behind and causes your head to whip forward and backward. The force generated by the whipping motion can cause significant damage to your neck. Stiffness and pain are common symptoms. Whiplash should be treated as soon as possible following an accident.

5. Myofascial Pain

The fascia is the sheath-like material that surrounds your muscles. Adhesions can occur in the fascia due to overuse or injury. Sometimes the painful points can feel like hard knots under the skin. Myofascial pain often causes discomfort in other areas of the body that you would not assume are related to the problem area.

6. Back Sprains and Strains

There are many ways that the back can become sprained or strained. A sprain involves the ligaments that are attached to your bones, while a strain involves your muscles and/or tendons. Either condition can cause significant pain and a loss of mobility.

Chiropractic Can Help By

Your chiropractor will offer you different options for healing your spinal condition. These may include:

Adjustments

Many times the problems with your spine can be improved by realigning the vertebrae. Injuries and spinal conditions are often associated with misalignmentwhere the vertebrae are not sitting on top of one another as they should be. A chiropractic adjustment gently returns your vertebrae to alignment.

Massage Therapy

Massage is a great complementary therapy to chiropractic adjustments. It can help to relax muscles, eliminate adhesions and improve mobility. It can also help your spinal adjustments to stay in place as you go about your day to day life.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound treatments are an effective way to encourage your bodys own healing mechanisms without causing any unwanted side effects. The sound waves penetrate deep into the tissues to create heat energy, which encourages circulation and aids in healing.

If you are struggling with a spinal disorder like those mentioned above, we would love the opportunity to help. Our chiropractic team understands how to administer safe, effective treatments that are non-invasive and work together to improve healing outcomes.

Heel Spurs

11860 Vista Del Sol Ste. 128 6 Spine Disorders That Chiropractic Helps El Paso, TX.

Do you have a sharp pain in your heel? When you take a step, does it feel like a knife is stabbing your heel? If the answer is yes, then you might have a heel spur.

A heel spur is a degenerative outgrowth of bone on the calcaneus. While the heel spur itself is sometimes painless, the condition is commonly associated with Plantar Fasciitis.

  • Heel spurs themselves are not what cause pain
  • Spurs occur in 50-75% of heels afflicted with plantar fasciitis
  • Heel spurs sufferers usually tell of sharp pain in the heel, that radiates to the bottom of the foot.
  • Symptoms can impede walking, and movement in general.

Treatment

Surgery can be costly, risky, but is usually unnecessary.

Recovery time:

  • Between 3 to 6 months or more to return to weight-bearing functions
  • Conservative treatment, on the other hand, is shown to be quite effective.
  • The pain and irritation experienced by about 90% of people respond quite well to conservative treatment.

Home Care:

  1. Stretch foot and calf consistently
  2. Ice the heel to bring down swelling
  3. Wear custom orthotics
  4. Focused exercises on strengthening muscles in the feet and ankles
  5. Weight loss, and better shoes if necessary

At Injury Medical & Chiropractic Clinic:

Foot adjustments:

  • Inferior navicular
  • Fixated cuboid
  • Posterior calcaneus and/or dropped metatarsal heads.
  • Though adjustments may help reduce symptoms, they do not restore plantar aponeurosis laxity or the resultant excessive pronation.

Custom orthotics support all 3 arches, which help control pronation and protect against heel shock.

Your healthcare provider and custom orthotic’s center can offer a special cut outat the site of the insertion of the plantar fascia to reduce pressure.

Conclusion

Heel spur pain can be reduced by seeing your movement patterns of the foot and ankle. While there is no cure for heel spurs, chiropractic foot adjustments, orthotics and home stretching can help.

El Paso, TX Chiropractic Heel Spur Treatment

Blanca, born and raised in El Paso, TX, has been suffering from heel spurs for approximately two years. As a registered nurse, her symptoms appreciably affected her ability to work and her general quality of life. Determined to improve her health, Blanca believed care. Once she began treatment with Dr. Alex Jimenez, however, Blanca experienced enormous relief from her heel spurs, nearly immediately. Blanca highly recommends chiropractic care with Dr. Alex Jimenez as the nonsurgical selection for the treatment of heel spurs. A heel spur is a calcium residue resulting in a bony protrusion on the bottom of the heel bone.

Although heel spurs are often painless, they can lead to heel pain. They are often associated with plantar fasciitis, a painful inflammation of the fibrous band of connective tissue (plantar fascia) which runs across the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the ball of the foot. Heel spurs are usually caused by strains on foot ligaments and tendons, stretching of the plantar fascia, and repeated tearing of the membrane that covers the heel bone. Heel spurs are especially common among athletes.

Orthotics

Foot Dysfunction can very easily cause a domino effect that extends all the way to the back. The feet are the foundation of the body and when there is a problem with the way they function it can cause the entire body to shift out of alignment. Overpronation and oversupination can cause a variety of injuries and conditions that affect not only the feet and ankles, but also the knees, hips, and back as well.

Functional Hallux Limitus

Functional hallux limitus is unfortunately still considered to be a rare health issue which often goes unaddressed. Outcomes for many different foot disorders will be jeopardized if treatment doesnt address functional hallux limitus. Foot and postural abnormalities have a basis in poor function of stabilization and the windlass mechanism of the foot structure through the plantar fascia.

Although many people try to treat their low back pain on their own first, one of the fastest and best ways to treat it is through custom orthotics, which actually optimize the performance of your entire body, not just your feet and lower back. For instance, overpronation of the foot causes a series of internal changes that extend up through the leg. The femur may rotate causing hip pain and inflammation of the sacroiliac joint which leads to back pain. Other misalignments in the body that are caused by foot problems can also lead to chronic lower back pain as well.

Low Back Pain? Fix it with *FOOT ORTHOTICS* | El Paso, Tx

At least 80% of the U.S. population will experience back pain at some point in their life, which accounts for more than 3 million reported cases of lower back pain each year. Lower back pain is also one of the biggest reasons why people miss work.

There is a solution that doesnt include trips to the doctor, insurance agency, or prescription medication.

Understand Low Back Pain

The symptoms of low back pain can be different for everyone, ranging from dull aches to sharp /stabbing pain.

Low back pain can inhibit our ability to stand up straight, move around, lift everyday items, and do our household chores e.g. laundry and garbage.

  • When the pain comes quick such as, after lifting something heavy or from an injury, it is considered acute.
  • If the pain lasts for more than three months, it is considered chronic.

Common Causes

  • Heavy lifting, exercise or sudden jerking movements and injury can cause acute pain.
  • Injury can also lead to more chronic issues like sciatica
  • Those of us with desk jobs are at risk for chronic low back pain.

When carrying a bag, be careful

  • Purses, backpacks, and briefcases carried over the shoulder put a greater risk of developing chronic back pain because it is the lower back that takes all the weight.
  • Instead, get a rolling bag/case or a backpack that distributes the weight evenly over the body, across both shoulders.
  • Other causes of lower back pain can be hormones, weight, lifestyle, and environmental factors.

The Solution to Low Back Pain

  • Many chiropractors encourage the use of custom orthotics to help treat a variety of problems, ranging from joint pain, foot discomfort, and posture issues.
  • Custom orthotics are insoles that are slipped into shoes and made especially for your body.
  • Wearing custom orthotics provides nearly immediate relief from lower back pain, and also helps prevent it from returning.
  • Custom orthotics are created by scanning and assessing your feet in less than five minutes.
  • By simply standing barefoot on a kiosk inside your chiropractors office, a one-of-a-kind solution is created.
  • No X-rays, MRIs, or further testing is required.
  • The foot scan assesses the three arches in both of your feet, as well as how you distribute your weight on the foundation of your body.

Although many people try to treat their low back pain on their own first, one of the fastest and best ways to treat it is through custom orthotics, which actually optimize the performance of your entire body, not just your feet and lower back.

Over-the-counter orthotics do not provide proper support and can even cause more damage to the body.

Chronic lower back pain is not a normal thing that has to do with age or lifestyle.

If you are experiencing lower back pain, call a chiropractor and ask about how custom orthotics can help you.

When there are problems with the feet, it can cause problems through the legs and all the way to the spine. This can cause the ankle to pronate, meaning it rolls inward. This alters the way thebones of the foot line up which extends through the tibia, or shin bone. Ankle painand injury are not issues reserved solely for athletes. In the United States, more than 25,000 people deal withankle sprainsor pain every day. Studies show that somewhere around 40 percent of ankle sprains are not treated correctly or are misdiagnosed, which leads to disability or chronic ankle pain.

Ankle Manipulation

The typical treatment for pain, such as with a sprain, is R.I.C.E., which is rest, ice, compression and elevation. A somewhat newer treatment approach replaces the R with an M, meaning that instead of rest, movement is required instead. However, it is important that the movement is done safely and carefully. Certain types ofankle injuries can be exacerbated by movement so it should be approached with care. Chiropractic can help reduce pain without prescription medication and the associated side effects. This alone is often a great draw for many patients. However, there are other benefits that chiropractic can provide for ankle pain.

Experiencing foot pain, theres no doubt you checked out your foot to make sure its notinjuredor hurting fromimproper fitting shoes, corns, plantar fasciitis, etc. This may seem counterintuitive, but you may want to check the condition of thelumbar spine (lower back)? Most foot problems are caused by issues with the foot, but what if you found that pressure on the sciatic nerve can cause intense foot pain.

Why Osteoarthritis And Chiropractic Go Hand In Hand El Paso, TX.

Why Osteoarthritis And Chiropractic Go Hand In Hand El Paso, TX.

Osteoarthritis is often called wear and tear arthritis. It results from the naturaland sometimes excessiveuse of your body. While you cannot do anything to completely prevent wear and tear on your spine, knees, hips, ankles and other joints, you can help to slow the process through regular chiropractic care. You can also get some significant relief from the pain and stiffness that comes from osteoarthritis by getting your back and other joints adjusted.

Osteoarthritis is a condition that responds quite well to chiropractic. If you are currently suffering from osteoarthritis, or know someone who is, please consider chiropractic to relieve pain and improve mobility.

What is Osteoarthritis?

The term arthritis refers to the inflammation of a joint. There are actually several hundred types of arthritis. Osteoarthritisthe most common type of arthritisis a degenerative joint disease that many, many people are affected by, especially older adults. It is one of the main conditions that lead to the ongoing pain and loss of mobility that is so often associated with old age.

Osteoarthritis is so common because wear and tear on the human body are inevitable. Your body wears down as you use it. In your younger years much of this wear is repaired, only to be worn down again, and then repaired again. But when you get older, your body slows down on the repairs. Cartilage starts to disappear as we get older as well. When the cartilage no longer protects your bones from one another, bone rubs on bone, inflammation occurs, spurs often result and pain is inevitable.

How Chiropractic Helps

The specialties of chiropracticreducing inflammation, decreasing pain and increasing joint mobilityare an ideal fit for treating osteoarthritis. All of the symptoms that you experience with osteoarthritis are made better through regular chiropractic adjustments and associated therapies. You also get the added benefit of improving your movement patterns, which can help avoid further damage to your joints.

Some of the benefits of chiropractic for osteoarthritis include:

Inflammation is Reduced

Inflammation is one of the big enemies of your joints. It is your bodys response to a stimulus and can be helpful from time to timebut not hour after hour, day after day, week after week. Ongoing inflammation causes damage that you want to avoid and makes everything more painful.

Chiropractic can help your body reduce inflammation by returning your joints to their proper alignment. Properly aligned joints experience improved circulation, which aids in healing. The joints are less likely to become inflamed as well as long as they are in proper alignment.

Pain is Decreased

Often the pain you experience in your joints is due to pressure being put on nerves. For instance, when your spine is misaligned the vertebrae can press on spinal nerves, leading to extreme discomfort, shooting pains, burning sensations, numbness, tingling, and other symptoms. Some patients are surprised at how much less pain they experience after just a single adjustment. Once the pressure is removed from the nerve pain is reduced significantly.

Joint Mobility is Increased

Stiffness is a well-known problem with osteoarthritis. The stiffness is caused by several factors, including the loss of cartilage in the joint and the lack of movement that results from pain in the joint. The less you move, the harder it becomes to start moving again.

Adjustments gently increase the range of motion in your joint. Over time, these adjustments can cause significant increases in your range of motion and comfort with movement.

Orthotics

When there are problems with the feet, it can cause problems through the legs and all the way to the spine. This can cause the ankle to pronate, meaning it rolls inward. This alters the way thebones of the footline up which extends through the tibia, or shin bone.

Pronation

Pronation describes the way that the foot rolls inward during its normal motion. The foot turns inward, flattening out, as the heels outer edge strikes the ground. For the foot to function correctly, there must be a significant degree of pronation. However, excessive pronation, or overpronation, can cause injury and damage to the foot and ankle. It creates the arch in the foot to flatten, and the ligaments, tendons, and muscles under the foot overstretch.

How Chiropractic Care Helps With Crohn’s Disease | El Paso, TX

If you or someone you love is suffering from Crohns disease, you know how unpleasant it can be. A chronic inflammatory bowel disease, Crohns can make it difficult to lead a normal life. Even when you are able to work, play and relax the way you want, the disease can still cause painful, uncomfortable symptoms that you certainly can do without.

Fortunately, chiropractic care has been helpful for a number of patients with Crohns disease. You may be able to get some much-needed relief for your symptoms through regular chiropractic visits.

The Symptoms of Crohns Disease?

In most cases, Crohns disease causes parts of the small bowel and colon to become inflamed. The inflammation can result in several symptoms that are nothing you want to experience if you do not have to, including regular diarrhea, malnutrition, weight loss, abdominal pain, and fatigue.

Crohns Disease Is Usually Treated How?

It is an unfortunate reality that Crohns disease has no current cure. Standard treatments include using prescription medications and sometimes surgery to eliminate symptoms. Of course, these treatments may result in unwanted side effects which can sometimes be equal to or worse than the original symptoms. That is why chiropractors prefer to use treatments that are less invasive, like adjustments and complementary therapies.

Can Chiropractic Help with Crohns Disease?

There have been a variety of small studies conducted to determine the effects of chiropractic on Crohns disease. The results of these studies have been promising. Many have shown that chiropractic adjustments have helped those with Crohns to feel better than they did before the adjustments. They experienced a reduction in their symptoms, with some experiencing a significant reduction.

Why Choose Chiropractic?

The best thing about using chiropractic to treat Crohns symptoms is that it is so gentle and free of side effects. You can try chiropractic at very little risk to yourself or the danger of experiencing an increase in your symptoms. When you consider how likely side effects are from prescription medicationsyou only have to watch a commercial for pharmaceuticals to see the long list of possible side effectsand the risks of surgery, it is easy to see why so many Crohns sufferers look to chiropractic for relief.

What is a Chiropractic Visit like when You Have Crohns Disease?

Chiropractors are experienced in treating a wide variety of diseases and conditions. They also know how important it is to make you feel comfortable with your experiencefrom start to finish.

The first thing the chiropractor will do is conduct a thorough physical examination. He or she will also ask you a number of questions to find out exactly how you feel, and what your thoughts are on your condition.

After the examination the chiropractor will design a treatment plan that may include a variety of treatments:

  • Chiropractic adjustments. Adjustments focus on helping your spine and body achieve optimal alignment. The chiropractor will only apply enough pressure to achieve the desired result.
  • Massage therapy. Massage is an excellent complementary therapy that goes hand in hand with chiropractic care. By relaxing your muscles and releasing adhesions, massage can help your adjustments stay in place and lead to improved movement and less pain.
  • Spinal decompression. Using a specially designed machine, your chiropractor can increase the space between your vertebraespace that leads to increased blood flow lowers pain levels and often results in faster healing.

Gait Style & Chronic Postural Pain

The way a person walks, their gait, can be very telling. It can reveal problems in the feet, ankles, knees, and hips even inspinal alignment. A problem with gait can indicate pain in a patient as well as serious conditions like diabetes and arthritis. It, is a diagnostic tool for many conditions, injuries, and syndromes including autism.

When it comes to chiropractic care, a patients gait can offer critical clues regarding the root of their complaints, allowing for a more well-rounded, whole-body approach to treatment. If you think that the way you walk or moves doesnt matter, think again. It most certainly does matter.

Most people dont think of chiropractic to treat conditions that do not involve the spine, but study after study shows it is effective in treating a wide variety of health issues.Ulcerative colitis seems to have no real connection with the spine, yet patients and researches alike are touting the effectiveness of chiropractic care to treat the condition. This is due, in part to chiropractics approach to whole-body wellness, butspinal alignmentsare incorporated into the care as well. Bottom line, chiropractic care is extremely effective in treating uncreative colitis, and many patients are finding relief from their symptoms and discomfort.

Custom Orthotics Can Help Alleviate Hip Pain El Paso, Texas

Custom Orthotics Can Help Alleviate Hip Pain El Paso, Texas

The hip joint is the bodys largest ball-and-socket joint that allows for fluid movement during running, walking, and more.

There is a cushion of cartilage that helps prevent friction when the hip bone moves.

11860 Vista Del Sol, Ste. 128 Custom Orthotics Can Help Alleviate Hip Pain El Paso, Texas

The hip is durable, but with age and use, this cushion can wear down or sustain an injury. So can the muscles, tendons, and bones surrounding the hip, caused by several conditions. These include:

  • Arthritis, Avascular necrosis (or osteonecrosis)
  • Certain cancers
  • Bursitis
  • Hip fractures
  • Hip labral tear
  • Muscle or tendon strain
  • Tendinitis

Treating your hip is successful when the focus is on restoring the balance and function of the entire body. This starts from the ground up with the feet along with a chiropractic examination that determines the root cause, which in turn helps in making an informed decision on a treatment plan. This instead of merely reducing the pain and inflammation in the irritated areas.

Symptoms of Hip Pain

Depending on the condition that’s causing your hip pain, you might feel the discomfort in:

  • Inside of the hip joint
  • Outside of the hip joint
  • Groin
  • Buttocks
  • Thigh

Treatment

Chiropractic and custom orthotics can help alleviate hip pain with adjustments, icing/heating and resting the affected joint.

Your chiropractor can help you set up a stretching and strengthening exercise regimen that will improve your hips function and reduce your pain.

When there are problems with the feet, it can cause problems through the legs and all the way to the spine. This can cause the ankle to pronate, meaning it rolls inward. This alters the way thebones of the foot line up which extends through the tibia, or shin bone. This can cause a condition called knock knees and it can change the way the entire body is aligned. This puts the body out of balance, destabilizing the spine, and can even cause the pelvis to tilt to one side or the other.

Weak Hip Abduction

Muscle imbalances in the hip, such as tight hip flexors, can cause low back pain or at least contribute to it. When the hip flexor muscles are too tight, it causes what is known as an anterior pelvic tilt. Hip flexorscan become too tight if the person sits for extended periods of time or engages in activities like cycling and jogging. A chiropractor can guide you through exercises that will help release the tight muscles and stop the micro spams that occur as a result.

If the health issue originates in the hip joint itself, common painful symptoms may often include groin pain on the affected side, which can occasionally radiate down the inner region of the thigh into the front of the leg. The painful symptoms can also travel to the knee, making healthcare professionals and patients believe their pain is associated with a knee problem rather than a hip problem
