11860 Vista Del Sol Ste. 128 Foot/Heel Pain & Chiropractic Orthotics El Paso, Texas

  • Heel pain
  • Foot pain
  • Spurs
  • Tight tendons
  • Stiffness

Signs of a long day, wearing the wrong shoes, both or you may have a condition known as plantar fasciitis. We don’t take our health seriously until we go through excruciating pain or some form of debilitation. Feet are the foundation of the body and when they are not at 100% there are going to be problems.

Identifying, diagnosing, and treating plantar fasciitis can be fast and easy with chiropractic orthotics!

What is it?

Plantar Fasciitis is inflammation of the tissues in your foot.

People think it only affects the heel, however, it can affect any or all of the bottom of the foot. Because its the tissue between the toes and heel that gets inflamed.

  • The tissue is called fascia hence the name of the condition: plantar fasciitis.
  • Heel spurs were once thought to be the cause of the discomfort, but now is a symptom of plantar fasciitis.
  • Many people who have plantar fasciitis wake up with stabbing pain in the bottom of their feet during the first few steps of their day.
  • Early morning pain and stiffness is a big indication of PF.
  • Also called policemans heel, pain and discomfort also arise after long periods of standing, walking, exercise.
  • The fascia in the foot acts as a shock absorber, which helps support the arch of the foot.
  • With time, increased tension, small tears begin to happen in the fascia, that leads to the inflammation.

Who gets Plantar Fasciitis?

People that stand on their feet for long hours, such as:

  • Factory workers
  • Teachers
  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Retail employees

Are at a higher risk of developing plantar fasciitis.

Improper Footwear/Posture

Wearing improper shoes, meaning too tight, too loose is another contributing factor.

Shoes that have arch support and heel protection are considered best and help to avoid pain and discomfort.

  • Poor posture
  • Abnormal walking gait

When heel or foot pain is not treated, it can lead to

  • Back
  • Knee
  • Hip problems

Many adjust their walking to compensate for the pain and discomfort that can lead to more problems.

Being flat-footed raises the likelihood of developing plantar fasciitis regardless of age or lifestyle.

Other Contributing Factors

Weight also contributes to plantar fasciitis because it puts greater stress and tension on the feet as they hold the body. Exercise can help, but be sure that they are exercises specifically designed to help treat plantar fasciitis. Because certain types of exercise like running, aerobics, jumping, and dance-based workouts can lead to heel pain and plantar fasciitis.

Diagnosis

Identifying and diagnosing plantar fasciitis is straightforward and relatively easy. Diagnosing plantar fasciitis does not require an X-Ray or MRI, which is one reason many people avoid seeking treatment. But it’s best to seek the advice of a trusted healthcare professional.

Treatment

There are several ways to treat plantar fasciitis:

  • Rest is one of the best remedies, especially if it is caused by exercise or excessive stress.
  • Icing the area can help manage the pain
  • Stretching and/or light physical therapy
  • Stretches that focus on the Achilles tendon and lower leg muscles help stabilize and strengthen the ankles and heels.

This helps to:

  • Stand
  • Walk
  • Workout
  • Move around

Chiropractic and physical therapy can help with:

  • Stretching the muscles and tendons
  • Work out and tension
  • Provide day-to-day stretches

  • Kinesio taping along the bottom of the foot, heel, and lower leg but should be done first by a professional like your chiropractor to show the proper and most effective method then you can do it yourself.
  • Chiropractic orthotics, or custom insoles, can help immensely because they are custom made to each individual.
There are a variety of types designed for various types of pain and discomfort.

Custom chiropractic orthotics can work in nearly any type of shoe.

  1. Athletic/Tennis/Skate shoes
  2. Work Shoes/Boots
  3. High heels
  4. Sandals

They are easily and custom made specifically to your body, which factors in your weight, posture, and gait.

If youre experiencing any of the symptoms like heel pain, throbbing pain when you wake-up, or pain along the arch of your foot, then don’t hesitate and make an appointment with us today!

Our chiropractic/physical therapy team will teach you how to make small adjustments to your lifestyle, show you how to stretch properly, and how to use custom chiropractic orthotics to get you back on your feet with comfort, control and freedom to live your life.

What’s Afoot

Particularly true with foot dysfunction is when the mechanics of the foot are off, which can throw off the alignment of the entire body.Overpronation and oversupination in the footcan lead to severe andchronic back pain. Ankle pain refers to any type of pain or discomfort in the ankle. This pain could generally be due to an injury, such as a sprain, or due to another health issue. As stated by the National University of Health Sciences, or NUHS, an ankle sprain is one of the most frequent causes of foot pain, making up 85 percent of all ankle injuries. A sprain occurs when the ligaments tear or are overstretched.

Chiropractors utilize a combination of treatment techniques and methods to ease ankle and foot pain. Chiropractic care is a safe and effective, alternative treatment option which focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a variety of injuries and conditions associated with the musculoskeletal and nervous system, including foot and ankle pain.

How Chiropractic Helps Plantar Fasciitis

Chiropractic care is a very effective treatment for plantar fasciitis as well as the pain that is caused by the condition. Chiropractic for plantar fasciitis involves a very precise technique that involves adjustments to the feet and ankles as well as spinal alignment. This provides several benefits.

  • Reduces Stress in the Plantar Fascia When a ligament is inflamed or stressed the tissue can develop very small tears that cause the pain of plantar fasciitis. Chiropractic adjustments made to the heel and foot take the pressure off of the plantar fascia, allowing it to relax.
  • Promotes Healing When the stress on the plantar fascia is reduced through these chiropractic adjustments, the foot can begin to heal. The chiropractor may also recommend specific exercises that stretch the ligament and help it heal. They may also advise the patient of lifestyle changes as well as nutritional adjustments that can help with the pain and condition.
  • Provides Effective Pain Management Chiropractic is a very effective way to manage pain throughout the body. Spinal adjustments allow better communication between the brain and nerves, allowing the central nervous system to function more effectively. Condition-specific adjustments speak to the root of the problem, not just the symptoms. This means a more effective form of pain management that is longer lasting.
  • Reduces the Risk of Further Injury When a person has a condition like plantar fasciitis, they will often adjust their gait in an effort to avoid the pain. This puts stress on other parts of the body and can lead to back pain, sore joints, strained muscles, and other problems. Chiropracticswhole-body approachhelps the person realign their body properly so that they stand and walk properly. This helps them avoid further injury and discomfort.

What’s Afoot

Plantar fasciitis is caused when the ligament that connects your toes to your heel (the plantar fascia) becomes inflamed, swollen, and weak. This causes the bottom of your foot or heel to hurt when you walk or stand, especially when you first wake or after sitting for a long time. The pain tends to be sharp and stabbing. It is the most commoncause of heel pain and is more prevalent among middle-aged people. However, anyone can get it at any age, especially people who spend a lot of time on their feet.

Make sure the serving sizes match when comparing supplements to get an accurate comparison.

Vitamins and minerals always show the dose in weight and % percentage daily value to help you understand your dietary requirements.

Supplements often will have doses that exceed the recommended daily value.

Dietary supplement ingredients that are not vitamins or minerals will not have the % percentage daily value because they are not essential ingredients in the diet.

Dietary supplements are regulated by the FDA, and all labels must follow a consistent format to make it easier for consumers to understand. Understanding dietary supplement labels well require some attention to the following points when youre evaluating supplements.

11860 Vista Del Sol, Ste. 128 How To Read A Supplement Label El Paso, TexasHerbs sometimes have additional information listed in the supplement panel. You might see ratio numbers (example 4:1) that show how much raw material of the herb (fresh or dried herb) is in the supplement version.

Herbs might have a standardization amount that shows how much of an active ingredient is present. The dose of the active ingredient is often listed, but sometimes it is not.

Proprietary blends are common. Only the total amount of the blend in a serving needs to be listed, which means that you dont get all of the information about every ingredient.

Proprietary blend ingredients are listed in order from most to least. Similar to how food ingredients are listed on prepared foods nutrition facts panels.

How To Identify Organic Foods

In the United States, a food or product that is labeled as organic is required to be certified by theU.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA has a certification program for natural growers and it has a set of very stringent standards that the product or food must meet.

There are some exemptions. For instance, a producer who does not sell more than $5,000 annually just in organic foods is not required to get the certification although they do have to adhere to the USDAs stringent requirements for organic foods.

When a food carries the USDA Organic label, it means that it meets the requirements. While natural producers are not required to put the label on their products, many do.

The labeling varies, depending on the type of food. Single-ingredient foods like eggs, vegetables, and fruitsare considered to be 100 percent natural and are allowed to carry the USDA seal.

Foods that contain two or more ingredients, like breakfast cereal, are still allowed to use the USDA seal, but also must include the following information:

  • Organic The product must be 95 percent organic or greater in order to be able to use this term
  • 100 percent organic The product must be completely organic or all of its ingredients must be natural
  • Made with organic ingredients The product contains no less than 70 percent natural ingredients

If the product has less than 70 percent natural ingredients, they are not allowed to use the word organic anywhere on their product labels.

What’s Afoot

Foot Dysfunction can very easily cause a domino effect that extends all the way to the back. The feet are the foundation of the body and when there is a problem with the way they function it can cause the entire body to shift out of alignment. Overpronation and oversupination, for example, can cause a variety of injuries and conditions that affect not only the feet and ankles, but also the knees, hips, and back as well.

Low Back Pain? Fix it with *FOOT ORTHOTICS* | El Paso, Tx

Low Back Pain? Fix it with *FOOT ORTHOTICS* | El Paso, Tx

At least 80% of the U.S. population will experience back pain at some point in their life, which accounts for more than 3 million reported cases of lower back pain each year. Lower back pain is also one of the biggest reasons why people miss work.

There is a solution that doesnt include trips to the doctor, insurance agency, or prescription medication.

Understand Low Back Pain

The symptoms of low back pain can be different for everyone, ranging from dull aches to sharp /stabbing pain.

Low back pain can inhibit our ability to stand up straight, move around, lift everyday items, and do our household chores e.g. laundry and garbage.

  • When the pain comes quick such as, after lifting something heavy or from an injury, it is considered acute.
  • If the pain lasts for more than three months, it is considered chronic.

11860 Vista Del Sol, Ste. Low Back Pain? Fix it with *FOOT ORTHOTICS* | El Paso, Tx

Common Causes

  • Heavy lifting, exercise or sudden jerking movements and injury can cause acute pain.
  • Injury can also lead to more chronic issues like sciatica
  • Those of us with desk jobs are at risk for chronic low back pain.

When carrying a bag, be careful

  • Purses, backpacks, and briefcases carried over the shoulder put a greater risk of developing chronic back pain because it is the lower back that takes all the weight.
  • Instead, get a rolling bag/case or a backpack that distributes the weight evenly over the body, across both shoulders.
  • Other causes of lower back pain can be hormones, weight, lifestyle, and environmental factors.

The Solution to Low Back Pain

  • Many chiropractors encourage the use of custom orthotics to help treat a variety of problems, ranging from joint pain, foot discomfort, and posture issues.
  • Custom orthotics are insoles that are slipped into shoes and made especially for your body.
  • Wearing custom orthotics provides nearly immediate relief from lower back pain, and also helps prevent it from returning.
  • Custom orthotics are created by scanning and assessing your feet in less than five minutes.
  • By simply standing barefoot on a kiosk inside your chiropractors office, a one-of-a-kind solution is created.
  • No X-rays, MRIs, or further testing is required.
  • The foot scan assesses the three arches in both of your feet, as well as how you distribute your weight on the foundation of your body.

11860 Vista Del Sol, Ste. Low Back Pain? Fix it with *FOOT ORTHOTICS* | El Paso, Tx

Although many people try to treat their low back pain on their own first, one of the fastest and best ways to treat it is through custom orthotics, which actually optimize the performance of your entire body, not just your feet and lower back.

Over-the-counter orthotics do not provide proper support and can even cause more damage to the body.

Chronic lower back pain is not a normal thing that has to do with age or lifestyle.

If you are experiencing lower back pain, call a chiropractor and ask about how custom orthotics can help you.

Orthotics

When there are problems with the feet, it can cause problems through the legs and all the way to the spine. This can cause the ankle to pronate, meaning it rolls inward. This alters the way thebones of the foot line up which extends through the tibia, or shin bone. Ankle painand injury are not issues reserved solely for athletes. In the United States, more than 25,000 people deal withankle sprainsor pain every day. Studies show that somewhere around 40 percent of ankle sprains are not treated correctly or are misdiagnosed, which leads to disability or chronic ankle pain.

11860 Vista Del Sol, Ste. Low Back Pain? Fix it with *FOOT ORTHOTICS* | El Paso, Tx

Ankle Manipulation

The typical treatment for pain, such as with a sprain, is R.I.C.E., which is rest, ice, compression and elevation. A somewhat newer treatment approach replaces the R with an M, meaning that instead of rest, movement is required instead. However, it is important that the movement is done safely and carefully. Certain types ofankle injuries can be exacerbated by movement so it should be approached with care. Chiropractic can help reduce pain without prescription medication and the associated side effects. This alone is often a great draw for many patients. However, there are other benefits that chiropractic can provide for ankle pain.

Orthotics

When there are problems with the feet, it can cause problems through the legs and all the way to the spine. This can cause the ankle to pronate, meaning it rolls inward. This alters the way thebones of the foot line up which extends through the tibia, or shin bone. For example, excessive foot pronation, limited range of motion in the hips, or tightness in the lower back, can place excessive strain on the knees.

Cuboid Manipulation

Treatment for foot pain varies depending on the condition/injury. Treatment can go from rest and ice to physical therapy, massage, chiropractic and in severe cases surgery. Reflexology can provide relief, as well as, stretching exercises. Over the counter pain medication is often used. If the pain is too intense that it prevents sleep, a physician may prescribe non-addictive pain medication. Wear shoes with good arch supports, and if pain persists. Insurance often covers orthotics.

Whole Body Wellness

Our body is a system that one when one part doesn’t function properly, it can impact the other body parts in a negative way.

Chiropractic medicine utilizes holistic and comprehensive medicinal techniques/methods to help the body and ensure optimized function.

Many chiropractors encourage foot orthotics to help treat various problems ranging from back and joint pain, foot discomfort, sciatica, etc.

Custom orthotics are made by scanning and assessing your feet, that lets your doctor/chiropractor know how you distribute your body weight, and viola, a one-of-a-kind solution is created especially for you.

Reasons why orthotics can help your body:

Orthotics support all moving parts in your body

Properly stabilized feet means the rest of your body moves with ease and harmony.

If you are someone who slumps a lot or has one side more dominant over another, orthotics help correct posture and movements.

Athletes have come to favor orthotics because of the positive influence in the way the body moves.

Orthotics distribute body weight evenly

Orthotics are frequently used to treat and relieve:

If you are a person who spends a lot of time on your feet, then orthotics can make long periods on your feet more manageable.

Even distribution means you will not feel aches and pains at the end of the day.

Orthotics can help you move faster & easier

Custom orthotics are designed for each persons unique foot to provide optimal support.

Someone who is flat-footed in one arch, may not be in another, a custom orthotic will provides specific support.

People who have jobs requiring them to spend a lot of time standing like teachers and police officers find that wearing custom orthotics helps them stay on their feet with greater ease.

Orthotics protects you from future injuries

Wearing orthotics help prevent your body from future injuries for several of the reasons mentioned above like evenly distributing your body weight, but also by supporting the various areas of your feet.

Orthotics can help relieve and prevent issues such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and bursitis, as well as protecting you from injuries like twisted ankles, back strains, and unnecessary hip and knee pain.

Orthotics support your body’s foundation the feet!

Its essential to ensure the foundation remains in tip-top shape.

As people age, our feet change.

  • Arthritis can present itself
  • Our arches can collapse
  • Our posture changes

Custom orthotics are designed to support your foundation to operate efficiently and without pain.

Foot Levelers is the leading custom orthotic provider in the U.S. and if you are interested in finding out more information about custom orthotics, reach out to your local chiropractor.

After a quick scan, your feet will be assessed and your custom orthotics will be designed and made especially for you.

Pronation

Pronation describes the way that the foot rolls inward during its normal motion. The foot turns inward, flattening out, as the heels outer edge strikes the ground. For the foot to function correctly, there must be a significant degree of pronation. However, excessive pronation, or overpronation, can cause injury and damage to the foot and ankle. It creates the arch in the foot to flatten, and the ligaments, tendons, and muscles under the foot overstretch.

Custom Orthotics Can Help Alleviate Hip Pain El Paso, Texas

Custom Orthotics Can Help Alleviate Hip Pain El Paso, Texas

The hip joint is the bodys largest ball-and-socket joint that allows for fluid movement during running, walking, and more.

There is a cushion of cartilage that helps prevent friction when the hip bone moves.

11860 Vista Del Sol, Ste. 128 Custom Orthotics Can Help Alleviate Hip Pain El Paso, Texas

The hip is durable, but with age and use, this cushion can wear down or sustain an injury. So can the muscles, tendons, and bones surrounding the hip, caused by several conditions. These include:

  • Arthritis, Avascular necrosis (or osteonecrosis)
  • Certain cancers
  • Bursitis
  • Hip fractures
  • Hip labral tear
  • Muscle or tendon strain
  • Tendinitis

Treating your hip is successful when the focus is on restoring the balance and function of the entire body. This starts from the ground up with the feet along with a chiropractic examination that determines the root cause, which in turn helps in making an informed decision on a treatment plan. This instead of merely reducing the pain and inflammation in the irritated areas.

Symptoms of Hip Pain

Depending on the condition that’s causing your hip pain, you might feel the discomfort in:

  • Inside of the hip joint
  • Outside of the hip joint
  • Groin
  • Buttocks
  • Thigh

Treatment

Chiropractic and custom orthotics can help alleviate hip pain with adjustments, icing/heating and resting the affected joint.

Your chiropractor can help you set up a stretching and strengthening exercise regimen that will improve your hips function and reduce your pain.

Custom Orthotics

When there are problems with the feet, it can cause problems through the legs and all the way to the spine. This can cause the ankle to pronate, meaning it rolls inward. This alters the way thebones of the foot line up which extends through the tibia, or shin bone. This can cause a condition called knock knees and it can change the way the entire body is aligned. This puts the body out of balance, destabilizing the spine, and can even cause the pelvis to tilt to one side or the other.

Weak Hip Abduction

Muscle imbalances in the hip, such as tight hip flexors, can cause low back pain or at least contribute to it. When the hip flexor muscles are too tight, it causes what is known as an anterior pelvic tilt. Hip flexorscan become too tight if the person sits for extended periods of time or engages in activities like cycling and jogging. A chiropractor can guide you through exercises that will help release the tight muscles and stop the micro spams that occur as a result.

If the health issue originates in the hip joint itself, common painful symptoms may often include groin pain on the affected side, which can occasionally radiate down the inner region of the thigh into the front of the leg. The painful symptoms can also travel to the knee, making healthcare professionals and patients believe their pain is associated with a knee problem rather than a hip problem
